CD Pack

 We have just completed our album art front and back cover. We still need to complete our insert but have begun designing it in preparation for the deadline. We have decided our album will be eponymous meaning it will be called "Ottersia" similarly to Blur's album "Blur"


This is our insert booklet, we copied our the design from our front and back cover and overlaid the lyrics from Sugar over photos of our band.

Final Two Weeks

With our deadline, 12/3/18, fast approaching. We have decided to write up a plan on what we are going to do to ensure our video is finished.

Week 1:
  • Begin editing process
  • Film remainder of footage (house shots/performance shots)
Week 2:
  • George finishes website
  • Jake/Richard finish editing
  • Spencer/Richard finalize CD Pack
In order to best utlise our time, we will try to stick to this plan as much as possible to try and meet our deadline with the best possible production.

Beginning of Production

Tomorrow we are starting our first video shoot. We intend on filming all the town centre shots and car shots, after we produce our picket sign. We have also finished the first half of our shot list ready for tomorrow.

Photoshop Practice

To further promote our bands realism and social media presence, I have been working on my Photoshop skills.

To start with I designed our band logo to give our band an image to represent. I designed the logo based off of an Otter to match our band name.

Equally the lineup for YNOT? Our local festival was released this week and to practice I added us to the linup poster.

Marketing and Promotion

Websites, music videos and CDs play a key role in the marketing and promotion of a music artist.
Although CDs have decreased in popularity over the past decade, people still tend to buy them to have a physical copy of the music, rather than just a MP3 file.


Music videos play a very large part in the marketing and promotion of an artist. Music videos have become increasingly popular since the launch of MTV and "Thriller" by Michael Jackson, Thriller was a massive game changer in the market as it was one of the first major story driven music videos.
Due to this, record companies would produce videos to be played on TV to gain popularity for the artist. The same still happens today but the videos are played on YouTube as well as TV. The music video is now a key part of the marketing and branding of a band/artist as they are often as recognisable as the song, equally they are often released at the same time as the song, making the song easier to share, as the video can be shared directly to Facebook/Twitter, promoting the artist further.
